Micromax Canvas Android One or Canvas A1 was a milestone development in the history of Micromax. Micromax Canvas A1 is preloaded with Android OS, v4.4.4 (KitKat) and is upgradable to Android 5.1.1 lollipop.
The Canvas A1 is a phone co-developed by Google as its Android One initiative and Micromax that runs the Android (operating system). The initiative was started by Google to provide an affordable yet feature-rich smartphone for developing nations, India being the first.

How to update Canvas A1 to Android Lollipop 5.1.1 (OTA Stock Update)
- First make sure that your phone has charged to 70% atleast to continue with the process.
- Also make sure that you have Data Connection enabled with a data balance of 1GB or a wifi connection is preferred.
- Then go to Settings -> About phone and click on System Update
- Now your phone will check for the latest firmware update.
- Download the update that is shown and wait for it to finish.
- After the download has finished your phone will reboot automatically and the update process will take place

How to Install Custom Android Lollipop ROM on Micromax Canvas A1
- Your phone should be rooted
- Recovery Mod should be installed
- Custom ROM should be downloaded
Steps
- Download the update file from the below mention links:- If your phone is running on the Stock Recovery than use these links and update with stock recovery.
- If you are running the custom recovery like TWRP and CWM than use the below mention files.
- Now transfer the updated zip file on your phone and remember the location where you put it.

- Now reboot your phone in recovery mode. To do this, Switch off you phone and Press and hold power + volume up button until you see anything on the screen. Now use Volume up Button to select Recovery and Volume Doan to select it.
- Now you are on the Recovery mode, From stock recovery, select Install zip from sd card option. (On TWRP/CWM recovery, options are very similar.)
- Select the Zip file that you saved on your phone on Step 2.
- Confirm by selecting Yes on next screen and let the recovery flash the OTA file.
- Once the flashing process is completed, go back to the recovery main menu and Reboot System. Now your Android One is running on the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.
